Oh, Thursday. (Side note- yes, I’m starting with a side note. Thursday is a tough day for me, because the anticipation of the weekend excites me, while I’m simultaneously almost dead from teaching/life/working out Monday-Wednesday. What a juxtaposition! I get my second wind on Friday)
Anyhow. I actually was looking forward to blogging this morning (hence the exclamation mark in the title, but who am I kidding.. I enjoy blogging all the time. I like writing down my thoughts..as no one in real life would listen to them!) I enjoy blogging about the things I LOVE!
Without further adieu…
Check out Angela’s challenge over at Oh She Glows. Angela’s blog was the beginning of my health and fitness blog addiction. Yes, addiction. And I LOVE this idea. I generally eat a salad with my dinner (or AS my dinner) every day anyhow.. (my fave? Kale or Romaine with Chicken or Turkey, Jalepenos (at LEAST one- just watch you don’t rub your eyes or itch your nose after chopping one..I don’t heed my own advice and have spent many a night whining because of it) Fresh Salsa and an Ezekiel wrap..mmmm). Seriously though, summertime is when you can go and get a whole bunch of fresh produce and just chop it up and stick it on some sort of greens.. so why wouldn’t you?! I also think a Pita from Pita Pit counts as a salad, as it’s a salad IN a pita. So you get a balanced meal. But I digress.
I urge you all to try it out! One salad per day for the WHOLE month of June. DO it.
2) Foam Rolling
This puppy is incredible. It’s like a massager and life saver all in one! Yesterday, I finished work, got stuck in traffic (another story for another time), got home, and proceeded to climb on my foam roller and roll myself out. (sounds so dirty. tee hee) Another one of my favorite bloggers Gina, blogged about how to foam roll properly. She is a fitness instructor. She knows her stuff. She could show you moves I can only dream about. Go out to any fitness store, Walmart or Target and buy yourself a foam roller and follow Gina’s moves. You will thank me. Incredible.
3) Farmer’s Market
The local Farmer’s Market just started up… we do have markets that are indoors the entire year.. but this one is outdoors. It’s 100% local. You can walk to it. They have live music. The vibe is extremely “small town America” (is this a thing? I deem it a thing) and I LOVE it. It also started last night..which means summer is ON IT’S WAY!! Win! (again- Charlie Sheen..where’d you go? I miss your crazy stunts)
4) This Means War
I do love “chick flicks”, but I get bored through most of them… (except “When Harry Met Sally”, which is my ALL TIME fave and I love it) So I generally “watch” girly movies while on my Ipad or talking to a friend, or flipping through a magazine. However, this is the first “chick flick” that actually caught my attention. It was pretty darn good. In fact, I may watch it again. Also? It has Reese Witherspoon in it! I have a feeling that Reese is pretty darn normal (or at least she seems like it – from the tabloids..HAHA) and I’ve always liked her..so I’m happy she was in a movie that I could watch without my ADHD taking over.
5) Walks with Friends.
There are no pictures for this. I should start taking more pictures. (note to self) I feel like sometimes, there is no remedy for a bad day like a walk with a friend. I think the act of walking in itself is therapeutic. Sometimes I go for prayer walks by myself, or people watching walks (yes I am really Gladys Kravitz inside). But there is something about being with a good friend and walking and talking. You always leave feeling – refreshed? Which reminds me that it sometimes is the simple pleasures in life that make life so wonderful. The sun. Being able to walk. Having friends. Luxuries I take for granted, but when I put thought into it… I am SO grateful for.
So deep.
Well…there you have it. Another TILT.
